Tibet Overland tour Via Kerung Border

Dream Tibet Travel pleasure to inform you that Nepal-Tibet border has been opened via Kerung from 01^st September 2017. The Kodari-Zhangmu border is still close after earthquake in Nepal. Kerung border is now another option for Kathmandu to Lhasa Overland tour. Its lies in Langtang National park and northern side of Kathmandu reach by driving about 145 Km, It will take 07-08 hours. Dream Tibet Travel & Tours start to run Tibet Overland tour with Everest Base Camp, Kailash Overland Tour and Tibet Fixed departure tour from September2017. Tibet Overland group tour is departing every Saturday from 16^th September 2017. It is 08 Days Tibet Overland tour from Kathmandu and we will run this tour for throughout the year.

Tibet Overland Tour via Kerung border starts at Kathmandu and scenic drive to Kerung Border follow the Pasang Lhamu Highway that connects to Kerung border. We start our journey early morning from Kathmandu to Syaprubesi- Rasuwa Ghadi, after completing immigration formalities (both Nepal and Tibet) we drive to Kerung for Overnight stay. Kerong is newly opened border so you will get basic accommodation for the first night then we continue to Tingri-Lhatse-Shigatse-Gyantse-Lhasa. After completing Tibet Overland tour, you will fly back to Kathmandu or you also have an option to continue your journey to Mainland China by Train or by flight.

ITINERARY:-

Day 01:- Kathmandu (1,300m) – Lhasa (3,650m)

Departure Transport to Tribhuban Airport and Trans – Himalayan flight to Tibet (Gongaar airport) (1hr.) Drive to Lhasa (1hr.) – Full rest for acclimatization – O/N at Hotel.

Day 02:- In Lhasa: Full Day Sightseeing Tour In Lhasa/ Acclimatization
Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar – O/N at Hotel.

Day 03:-Drive Lhasa – Shigatse (350 km – 8/9 Hrs). After breakfast in your hotel drive to Shigatse which is the 2nd largest city of Tibet. Built in 1447 by the first Dalai lama the Tashilampo Monastery in Shigatse is a very important monastery in Tibet as it is known as seat of the Panchan Lama O/N at Hotel.

Day 04:- Drive Shigatse – Saga (450km – 9 hours).We start an early morning drive to Saga, please note this will be a long drive but on the way we can make enough stop and lunch. O/N at Local Guest House.

Day 05:- Drive Saga – Lake Manasarovar (410km – 8 Hours) This is an auspicious day for all of us having first glimpse of the Holy lake Manasarovar and view of Mt. Kailash from The Horr Chu pass. Stay in Chiu Gompa, O/N at Guest House

Day 06 : Lake Manasarover to Darchen ( 4600m) 53km

Visit Chiu Gompa and explore Lake Mnasarover then drive to Darchen. Preparation day for the Kora O/N at Local Guest House.

Day 07: Darchen to Derapuk (4750m) 19km

Drive to Serchung and start Kora ( trek) to Depapuk O/N at Local Guest House.

Day 08: Derakuk- Dolmala (5620m)- Zutulpuk 20km

Continue trek to Zutulphul cross over dolma- la Pass O/N at Local Guest House.

Day 09: Zutulphuk to Darchen to Saga

Finish third day of Kailash kora and reach at Saga. Trek about 10 Km to the point and take your transportation to drive back Saga via Darchen O/N at Guest House.

Day 10: Saga to Shigatse

Scenic drive back to Shigatse O/N at Hotel.

Day 11: Shigatse to Lhasa

Drive back to Lhasa from Shigatse and transfer to Hotel.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast, Drive to Gonggar airport for your onward flight.

All foreigners other than Chinese and Tibetan need to obtain Tibet Visa to enter Tibet. Tibet visa called Tibet permit. It is also called invitation letter. It is issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau. Tourist / foreigners can not apply their Tibet travel permit themselves. Tibet tourism bureau only accept application from registered travel companies like Dream Tibet Travel and Tour. Tibet visa or Tibet permit comes in paper, not in your passport.
It is very important to know that Tibet permit and Chinese visa is different. You cannot enter Tibet just with Chinese visa. Before entering, you should obtain Tibet permit with the help of registered travel companies.

What document require to get Tibet Visa and Permit?

At least six month valid your passport copy. You can send us your passport front page by mail, Viber, WhatsApp, facebook or via any other social Medias.
Chinese visa copy by mail or via any social Medias. (Only for those tourist, who are entering Tibet from mainland China)
Have to fill up a form from Chinese Embassy Kathmandu with your latest passport size of a picture. This is only case, if you are travelling from Nepal. (Dream Tibet Travels and Tours manage will manage it)

It takes about one week time to get Tibet travel permit approval from Tibet tourism bureau. It might take longer than a week in keep season time. So applying your Tibet permit before 15 days is safe way.
Special Note: Diplomats passport holders, Journalists, professional media photographer and government officials are not able to issue their Tibet permit through ordinary travel agencies. They are only able to get Tibet travelling permit under the arrangement of Foreign Affairs. We should know it earlier than applying your permit.
